Electric Avenue

Do you like to have your hair big and your wins even bigger? Well, we might have found the perfect game for you. Electric Avenue is an all 80’s blast into the past with Wild Reels, Free Spins with Multipliers and more.

This release from All41 is stirring up the scene, but is that a good thing?

While we love the 80’s theme they are flaunting, we think it could have been taken up even a notch further.

Now that we’ve got you hooked, we’ll dive into all of the nitty-gritty as we get going with our review.

Buckle up! And, as Dr Emmett Brown said to Marty McFly, “we don’t need roads where we’re going”.

Key Features:

Reels: 6

Rows: 4

Electric Avenue’s RTP: 95.49%

Paylines: 4,096

Features: Yes

Variance: High

Electric Avenue Design:

The art deco, neon lights and little bit of “oomph” are undeniable in the design.

We love the retro symbols that act like a blast from the past. These include your hot rod with butterfly doors, which acts as your scatter and your highest paying symbol.

Following that, you have a boombox (a timeless classic), Polaroid camera, pumped up kicks, a Rubix cube, retro shades (the ones that aren’t any good at blocking out light) and, finally, a can of soda with a straw in it.

Not all of the symbols here are that exciting – but, we do like the continued neon theme with our final symbols which are your standard card suits.

On your reels, you may also be greeted by one of our four 80’s characters. They are all rocking some seriously snazzy looks.

The area that we really feel like they lacked here was the soundtrack. There is so much potential to dive all in with an 80’s game and the music is one component that really should not be overlooked.

Electric Avenue’s Features:

Wild Reels:

On reels 2,3, 4 and 5 you may find yourself landing on one of the full-length wild character symbols. Here you can also unleash some multipliers.

Your second reel will act as a 2x multiplier, the 3rd reel a 3x and so on up to your fifth reel. Up to 2 reels can have running multipliers at any time.

Free Spins:

Land on 3 or more of your scatter symbol to unlock your free spin selection.

Here you’ll have to make a big decision, do you want 7 spins with sticky wilds or 10 spins with a multiplier up to 55x?

All41 Studios:

Now, there seems to be a bit of a trend going on in regards to new releases from All41 – a lot of them are very closely related to other games – specifically games that already exist and do well.

Now, when I opened up Electric Avenue to play for the first time we were impressed with the features and the seemingly unique layout, but then we were reminded of another release we reviewed – Danger High Voltage from Big Time Gaming.

The features found here are quite alike. However, the Neon Free Spins option has 5 fewer spins than the High Voltage option does and the multiplier maxes out at 55x rather than 66x.

It seems a bit odd to take inspiration away from another game and not elevate it or make it better. It seems they just used the mechanics because they worked.

Conclusion:

This game has a lot of awesome features, but it definitely isn’t anything new or completely original.

We also have to admit, we feel like the 80’s theme was just “almost” there without the addition of a rocking 80’s soundtrack.

The visuals are great and it is a good slot if you’re looking for features and fun.
